C2 unplayable on Windows 8
This is a bundle that includes Creatures 1 and Creatures 2. If you are running Windows 8, Creatures 2 starts up with a black box in front of the interface. Impossible to play. If you google this problem, a work-around exists that seems to work for some people. However I tried this work-around and it did not work for me. Creatures 1 seems ok.

User interface fail
Creatures was probably fun in its time, but it's based around a Windows 3.x interface, with the result that on Windows 7 each component of the game opens in its own separate window on your desktop. It uses right click instead of left click as its primary interface, there's no option that I can find to adjust its graphics or volume settings, scrolling around the environment didn't work properly or wasn't explained, there's no hotkey for pause (that I could find), and information and pop-up windows can't be accessed while pause is active. With all of that nonsense going on I simply couldn't interact with the game well enough to actually experience the gameplay. A shame, really.

Oldie but goodie
I loved this game; it is surprisingly complex for how it appears. The only thing I will miss is all the hundreds of mods (cobbs) that people made for this game back when it was new.
