Broken promises

Long story short: if you're looking for a good point and click in the style of Lucas Arts' games, buy Thimbleweed Park. Pros: great graphics, great music, great dialogues. Cons: the game is far too easy; the second half fails to expand on the first half and instead recycles screens and shifts puzzles from lucasarts-style to logic puzzles; the game abruptly ends when it feels like it should start shifting gears into a third and final act with a climax (which is explained through still drawings during the ending credits).

Weirdly Wonderful

Ok, this game is weird. Like really. The story is weird and the game play is weird, but you know what, I still enjoyed it. I actually loved being able to jump back and forth between the main characters. When I was getting stuck and frustrated with one story line I would just switch to the other as a respite, as it were. So your two main characters are as different, as different can be. One is in space and the other on an earth like planet (to start). Their stories are utterly unique and yet perfectly entwined. The graphics are a lot of fun to look at. I would love to visit the brain of the creators cause there are some really wacky locations and characters in this. It's weird, it's wacky, it's worth it.

I hoped for a better game than this

This game is visually stunning and funny. The plot has an intriguing concept, with whimsy to spare, but sadly the two main characters never show any growth, and barely interact with each other. The puzzles are mostly simplistic, aside from a few tedious and needlessly frustrating ones in Act 2. The fact that I decided to rather watch the last thirty minutes or so of the game online says a lot about the poor design of those parts. Overall, a decent adventure game for those who can tolerate tedious, random puzzles (and some occasionally awful voice acting).

Beautiful graphics, funny moments

DoubleFine did a great job on building this game. The graphics look is unique and beautiful, the characters are interesting, and I like the plot. This is a modern adventure game, like many of the Telltale games, in the sense that it does not involve a lot of frustrating pixel hunting, or inscrutable puzzles, or twisty mazes all alike. Instead, for the most part, the puzzles are well integrated into the story, and there are very few red herrings. The plot dialog, if you listen carefully, gives lots of hints to reduce frustration. A consequence is that the game is short, which I actually prefer because I only have limited time to play these games. I was a Kickstarter backer and I think it was worth my investment to get a game with this quality.
