RNG decides everything in this game so I decided to use RNG to decide how many stars it should receive. . .One! One star! Who could possibly have expected that? Congratulations on your single star Banner of Ruin!

Serious Card Battler
This is a rogue-like card battler game where you take on the role of anthropomorphic animals on a quest to murder a city's Warden. I played for just under 13 hours. THE GOOD: - Nice, atmospheric graphics - The mechanic where you control multiple party members, who all share the same card draw, is novel and interesting. THE BAD: - On my first try, I made it to the final boss. I would have beaten him too except for a non-obvious special ability of one of the enemies. - I beat the game on my third try. - The game got repetitive after only three play-throughs. There just aren't that many city events. All the fights feel pretty similar. All the cards are pretty similar from playthrough to playthrough. - The 3 different phases of the game don't really feel any different from each other. - I still have 3 more animal types to unlock but I don't feel motivated to keep playing. THE UGLY: - The game doesn't show you what the enemy actions will be in very much detail, leading to frequent surprises--especially against bosses. - Poor controller support - Cards don't have any indication of their rarity.

Takes some patience and luck
Unless you're reading a guide of some kind, you'll need a few practice runs to know what's good and what's crap - in terms of story selections, skills and traits, gear. As I said, you need good strategy and equally good RNG. I personally enjoy this aspect; even if it makes the game pretty hard, I liked it a lot.

Lot of fun!
I really like card-based strategy games and this is one of my favorites. Love the art and pacing and it's fun to play around for a couple hours without feeling like I'm neglecting too much of my life.
