As a huge fan of the franchise since the beginning, I am really disappointed with this game. 0/10 do not buy.

Bastardization of a reverred franchise.
A franchise that became popular because of it's storytelling gets an expansion with storytelling on par with tumblr blog journalism. Wasn't going to write this review, but decided to do so when the developer shilled for fake positive reviews and made a pathetic call to Anita to defend their game... talk about ethics in gaming journalism.

An Epic Adventure, Despite its flaws
Was I disappointed by the social issue implementations in the game i grew up to love? Maybe Will I whine and cry and bash a game due to 50 seconds (FIFTY SECONDS) worth of dialogue (out of the THOUSANDS) that push for these social issues to be heard? Absolutely Not Why you ask? Because I'm not sexist, immature bigoted kid and can enjoy a game despite not agreeing with all the messages it tries to push.

A good expansion for those seeking more
This expansion sometimes feels more like an Icewind Dale expension than a BG one. It plays more like Throne of Bhaal in that the freedom to explore is more limited. That said this is a great addition to the series and right from the first dungeon you can see that a lot of love has been put into this game. Sure, the social and political issues are there, but they do not hinder gameplay. New NPC's are great and I would love to see Corwin and the Gnome Thief/Cleric available in BG2 The villain seems a bit weak compared to the other characters; I feel that she could have been fleshed out more. If you are a fan of Baldur's Gate, this is a safe purchase that gives hours of fun.

Trojan horse for political agenda
Beamdog have used Baldur's Gate as a trojan horse to push their political agenda, promoting very specific views concerning income distribution, the refugee crisis, and gender (to name a few), through a poor, shallow, and in-your-face writing that is insulting to both the franchise and the players and has succeeded to anger also those people whose interests it sought to promote. My biggest disappointment in gaming (I was really looking forward to this expansion) and the worst "RPG" I have ever played.
