Même si techniquement, vous incarnez Desmond Miles dans le présent, la majeure partie du jeu se déroule à Jérusalem en 1191, à l'époque de la troisième croisade. Vous faites partie d'un ordre d'assassins mystérieux, entraîné dans le seul et unique but de tuer. Mais l'influence grandissante de l'ordre des templiers perturbe l'équilibre des pouvoirs et menace directement la Confrérie. Le choc entre deux des plus puissantes organisations de Jérusalem a des conséquences inattendues et déclenche une série d'évènements menaçant l'avenir du monde tout entier. Et vous, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad, vous trouvez dans l'œil du cyclone.

I am astounded by this title. I've read most of the other reviews here, and I just want to add two cents, or so.
In some ways, the gameplay is a bit repetitive in that there are limited kinds of tasks to accomplish, but the difficulty continues to ramp up as you move through the story, so though you might be trying to accomplish the same task again, it becomes more difficult, usually because there are more guards that have learned to fight better.
This game is my introduction to the series, so when I see someone rating it lower because it doesn't compare to what came after, I'm pleased. If these people are correct, this series will continue to get better. So buy this, and enjoy it knowing that you're in for more assassination goodness later on down the line.
My first review in GOG, and one that isn't about any old game. Ok, Assassin's Creed: if you don't know it, this is a game that takes ideas from the Prince of Persia modern games, ideas from the Splinter Cell games... ok, ideas from Ubi Soft games in general and put them in a game with an intriguing story and mechanics that, yes, become repetitive. I liked the story a lot, and I enjoyed this game playing it with small doses, like 2-3 hours from then to then, but its flaws are blatant - they would be dramatically fixed in the next game. It's not very difficult, it features great enviroments that makes you believe you are there, and after all, it's a game that lets itself play confortably. I enjoyed it A LOT - indeed, it is one of my most favourite games of the last decade, jumping over roofs, riding horses, silently killing, freeing innocents - and think that its strong features surpass its weak ones, but be aware that there is a lot of repetition here... and a very frustrating cliffhanger at the end.
First of all understand that this game is not the same as the one on XBOX. One of the largest complaints people had was the limited variety of missions. Ubisoft listened and in this version they almost tripled the variety of missions. Most likely if you only want to get through the game and don't care about completion you won't really even notice the repetitiveness.
The combat is easy because your character can easily counter and insta-kill most enemies, but that's ok because the main premise of the game is not to get into fights in the first place.
The story takes a while to develop so don't expect thrills and cliffhangers-except at the end. While this game doesn't have a gripping story, the end definetly hooked me on the series-and believe me the rest of the series is well worth getting hooked on in every way
The setting is amazing with an accurate rendition of third crusade middle east, filled with tons of people that always seem to be living their own lives-they never seem to be set pieces or static.
So. Great setting, pretty good mechanics, and the first game of one of my favorite game series. Definetly worth the money.
This peice of media is one of the first of its kind, and shows how ubisoft back in its day was innovating on design and ideas of what it meant to be an "open world" game.
you can see alot of the core ideals of what became the later staples of the typical ubisoft game, towers, crowds, good parkour, collectibles, repetitive objectives, pre-animated takedowns and a relatively open approach to tackling your target.
Graphics,
amazing quality, rough on modern systems but stylish nonetheless, the colors are heavily filtered but each enviroment has its distinct look and palette. the shadows appear slightly choppy due to old aliasing techniques but the way the game is lit is brilliant.
Gameplay,
simple but effective, this was the mid-late 00's so while players of the franchises sequels may find combat lacking options but there is not much clutter. stealth can be a bit janky with the guards having speedometers to detect suspicious activity which makes horse riding very slow around enemies but otherwise it works as it should. the quests are also good, you have a list of 9 targets and before you assasinate each one you have to research the area and find out where they are, how to get there, and what opponents you will face. the mechanics are limited but this definitive edition adds new quests to gain info so its an upgrade to the original.
story,
honestly the structure of go to town, research,assasinate and return to master is very nice since it doesnt have you slog through too much of the same issues, the sci-fi present day sections are fine for what they are, they do referesh your brain between the 13th century cityscapes.
Ui,
servicable, the ui is a bit too much centre for my tastes but conveys the information nicely, pretty wierd for the mini map to be more akin to a halo motion sensor showing directions of objectives and interactibles but not the actual city map, cannot decide if this is good of bad.

I am going to be blunt some people hate everything have a very narrow point of view they think they are superstars and every game is TOO easy for them. 90 plus percent don't fit in that categlory I enjoy a game for the play and feel it needs to have a good story although not perfect "IT IS" a very enjoyable game in my honest opinion. I have almost all the Assassian's Creed games and I really like all of them. Listen to the ones who have a good review and HEAR what they like about it that will tell you more about if you might like the game than a a dozen negative reviews will. That applies to any game not just this one. Some people will hate the best of games because they just don't get it the story and or play. That does not make the game bad just not their cup of tea.
