Well, I never post on here as I have very few problems with the games on GOG. But I suppose having a problem was sort of inevitable with the large number of purchases I've made. More to the point I seem to have two distinct issues, first is the strange kind of micro-lag that happens on regular intervals, it is just enough stuttering to ruin immersion and rob me of my ability to focus on what I'm doing. This is my main problem and the one that I need to fix as soon as possible (Greece isn't going to build itself!) I've tried the widescreen patch as well as tinkering with the compatibility options, all to no avail. I understand that there isn't a huge community to patch and keep this game running on newish computers but if some benevolent soul could try and help me figure this out, I would be very grateful.

The second problem seems to have been mentioned before but with no real response. It is sort of a strange bug, periodically the game will minimize and I have to pull it back up. This has never happened to me before and Isn't a huge problem because the game doesn't freeze or anything, so kind of a minor annoyance.

Finally my specs- I have to warn you that I'm running with a very bad laptop so try not to laugh.
Toshiba satellite C855
windows seven 64bit
4G RAM
intel core 2.40GHz (4 CPU)
Intel HD Graphics 3000 (integrated chipset) - I know its just about the worst card you can possibly get
1366 x 768

So I also have the other games in the series running fine on my computer at the moment as well as many more intense games leading me to believe performance Is not the core of my problems.
Any help would be most appreciated!!

The micro-lag issue looks like it could very well be related to the GPU. Download the newest driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx and install it (uninstalling your current one first).
Also, do you have any antivirus?

As for the minimizing issue, I don't think it has anything to do with incompatibility. By any chance can you be pressing some key combination that's specific to this laptop? Some bloatware or Intel Helper utility (or whatever it's called). Is there a regular pattern to this issue?
Ok, I tried updating my drivers but it's still there. I do have antivirus (microsoft essentials). The minimize happens every time I start a new game and I tried it with my hands off the keyboard, but it still happens. Oh, and I don't have my games installed in program files so that can't be the problem either.
Fixed it! Turned off 3D sound with the in-game audio menu and no more stutter, still minimizes when I start the game. But thats not a huge problem so I'm very exited to get building!
Glad the stuttering got resolved. I found a video about fixing similar minimizing issue for another game. Might be helpful to you. Looks like it has to do with Toshiba bundled software or some other background process.
