I've hit a snag with exporting, and wonder if anyone has any advice to offer.

The city I'm playing produces both wheat and fleece locally, but also needs to export some of it. The granary is working fine, houses are evolving, everyone seems happy. But the moment I enable the trading psot to handle these products, the behaviour changes. Even though I've limited the number of units I'm trading, *all* of the carts with wheat or fleece go to the trading post, then turn around and head back again. The fleece carts go to the deisgnated warehouse, but the wheat carts just stop ... they never go back to the granary, which they walked past on their way to the trading post. The granary can be completely empty, and the houses devolving for lack of food and spitting their residents out onto the street, but the carts still won't go near the granary again.

I'm assuming this is a bug in the coding of the game, but does anyone know a workaround for it?

Try setting up a storehouse near your granary that just accepts wheat. Then set the granary to "Get" wheat. Your carts should always try to fill up the storehouse. You may have solved it already. But if not see if that works.

Branais: ...
I find once carts have a destination, they tend to want to keep it. I would open up your trading post to full 60 for wheat and allow it all to be dropped off. Then set your trading off and it will start to move over to the granary. That should clear all the goods at least.

I find when I am in a similar situation, setting the max trade storage amount to 4 seems to works well. Depending on production and such of course. But it allows you to maintain stock and usually sell the quota for the year (especially if you have Mercury) and the good never builds up so much in your trade center that your citizens are left without.
MacAilpin, muttly,
I've just realised I never came back to thank you for your help. Sorry!

It was appreciated, and I learnt some useful skills from your suggestions. ;-)
