Hi, all :-).

I'm really hoping someone can try to answer this for me, because I've been unable to find a definite answer anywhere...

I have sight problems, including NO colour vision AT ALL and according to video reviews I've checked, the new battle system in Ys X uses colour-coded cues, red & blue were mentioned.

Does anyone know if these cues are a big requirement to be able to win battles, or if there are any options to maybe help to reduce the need for these colours in battle?

I hope someone can help me out here, my first venture into the world of Ys, was Ys VIII and I got Ys IX at the same time, love them both, so I'd love to get Ys X to add to my collection :-).

I've bought a few games on here that I've had to refund because of issues with UI and/or colours and some I can't even buy... I'm hoping this at least allows me to play it without issues *crosses fingers*

Probably you won't get an answer here and I can't comment since I don't own the game but you can try asking in the Falcom subreddit.

Thank you for responding, even though you weren't able to comment on my question, it is appreciated that you took the time to reply :-).

I don't actually use Reddit, but I will consider trying to get an answer there, or I may even email Falcom, if that option is available.

Thanks again :-).

Edit: Sent a message to NIS America, via their contact page. Just crossing my fingers now...

The only colour coded thing in the game is blocking. The game display a few different outline colours for enemy attacks and that's decide if you can block it or not. In the other hand blocking isn't essential just really helpful as it can stun enemies when performed at the right time.Beside that everything will be probably very visible with no colour vision. I really don't like that, they released the demo only on consoles.
Thank you for replying and providing some detail :-).

I'm still undecided at the moment, so I will have to check some gameplay reviews and try to determine if it will cause me some problems. Still trying to figure-out why a lot of things use colours when there are other ways to highlight/emphasise things. *shrugs*

I'm hoping NIS America respond to my message, but I've heard nothing so far...

I found a decent gameplay video, that's shown me a lot and...

I 'should' be ok with it. Looks like the red & blue are accompanied by different auras, the red being darker, unless I'm mistaken.

So I've decided to take the plunge and buy it, looks fantastic from what I've seen :-).

I'll update this post once I've had a decent play of it, not much to play through to have both battle options in-play.

Good to hear, it is indeed an excelent game. Ys IX was a bit disappointing but this game surpassed every expectation of mine. :)
Loving it so far and no issues as of yet. Just got all my stuff sorted for the journey to "Island I can't remember right now" - Chapter 2 ;-).

I think setting it to easy is helping to be honest, at least I can enjoy the story and not worry too much that I may die around the next corner... I may anyway, but ah well :'-D.

Thank you to those of you who replied here, it was and is very much appreciated :-).
You're welcome. You can freely change the difficulty at any time if you need some adjust mid-story. :)
