So when I found the fix to this issue, I did two things, made the modified file, to upload and let people use the fix themselves, and uploaded the issue, and how to resolve it on the steam forums in hopes when the devs released the first GOG patch it would be fixed, alas it was not fixed, when my GOG Galaxy had the 16MB Update when I woke up.

So navigate to your 'Ys VIII - Lacrimosa of DANA" Installation folder, either in GOG Games, or GOG Galaxy\Games
go inside of the pcshader\usershd and replace the file mmap_vv.shd inside the "usershd" folder with the one I will post here (if it will let me): drive[.]google[.]com/file/d/1HOQ-6VvgMreo3dZdvCK2SZPu6JKDZk37/view?usp=sharing (Remove all the spaces from the link)

this is a temporary fix and may need to be reapplied whenever a patch hits if the devs readd the corrupted one (which had 2KB of useless data causing it to not function correctly.

EDIT: and got the link fixed.

I can't open the rar-file. At least not with 7zip. Could you repack the file and also upload it to a more reliable hosting service? Zippyshare ist infested with all sorts of malicious advertisements.

You have any other reliable download sources? Couldn't think of a good one besides google drive off the top of my head (but they have a download limit, also I could just upload the file itself instead of a repack

How about something like tinyupload[dot]com?

edit: thanks mate, saw that you changed the link to a google drive link. Got the file and it works like a charm.

That worked, thanks.

Hopefully NISA will actually give GOG the correct files like the Steam version has.

I really hope they fix it too, hopefully this works for most people in the mean time, while we wait.
Posting the OP's link since, due to their rep, they can't properly post links on the GOG forums (for ease of use):

Minimap glitch fix file (Google Drive)

Thanks for your generosity and helpfulness, Kentun!

Fortunately, the Ys fan community is slowly finding fixes for NISA's mess, hopefully they'll officially iron out the issues with their port.
Yep, that works. Thanks for posting that.

Working for me as well now; thanks for the fix :).
It works for me. Great find @Kentun. Thank you kindly.
Did in the end the gog version receive an official fix for this?
