Is your save in slot 2? I re-started the game in slot 2 and found the same problem. Didn't have it when first tried the game in slot 1.
Same problem. My games all screwed up now, even if I try to use save 1. I even tried to remove all trace of the game and reinstall it, same problem. Last time I'm buying new games from GoG, sorry. It's nice to support DRM free and all but devs simply dont care about the broken version on the less popular platform. That sticky about the problem (which I only found because I was HAVING a problem) has been up for more than a week with nothing being said.

I made a save in save 2 and it worked normally for a few hours and then the same thing happened again

I am also having this problem. I installed the game on my main machine, on which I did not have any problems and I still don't. I can run the game freely. However when installing it on my other machine it has the same problem you listed.
It doesn't seem to be just interaction with enemies that is broken. It also seems to be not counting quillies I pick up and when I picked up the first pagie on this save the animation was awkward and the pagie didn't actually move.

Things I've tried:
Deleting Save and Trying on Save 2.
Uninstalling game and reinstalling it.
Updating Graphics drivers.
Updating windows.
Removing all trace of Yooka Laylee in AppData.

My specs are:
8GB RAM.
i5 4690k no OC.
r9 270x no OC.
480GB Samsung SSD.

What is everyone else's specs with this problem? Have you tried the same troubleshooting I have?
also, is the game properly picking up Quillies and Pagies? i.e counting them on pause screen and being animated properly.

Everything you've mentioned is the exact problems I'm having.
Good news, managed to find a fix. All of this was done on the second computer.

1. Uninstalled GOG Galaxy & Yooka Laylee.
2. Deleted the save data by typing "run" into the start menu and "%appdata%" into the run window. I then went back a folder and entered the "LocalLow" folder. I deleted the "Playtonic Ltd" folder.
3. I reinstalled yooka Laylee through gog.com, not GOG galaxy.

Seemed to work after that.

Tell me if it works for you..!

I tried this but unfortunately didn't work for me.
I was gonna speedrun the game but well.. this bug is preventing me from playing the game at all.
After contacting GOG support they gave me the following steps to try:

- Sign out from your GOG.com account in Galaxy.
- Close GOG Galaxy completely(galaxy client process might be running in the background, check CTRL+ALT+DEL - > Task Manager).
- Launch the game from a dedicated shortcut(Launch Yooka-Laylee)?

For me signing out of Galaxy was enough to fix the issue. Definitely not happy with Playtonic's lack of communication or inability to issue a timely fix for a showstopping bug, but hopefully this will help fix the issue for some people for now.

Unfortunately that didn't work for me. I'm going to try reinstalling the game and see if that helps.

This fixed it for me. Just to test it out, I reinstalled GOG Galaxy and attempted to import the Yooka-Laylee game folder, but it breaks it all over again. Thankfully I backed up the save files, so after uninstalling GOG Galaxy and replacing the save files with my back up it works now. Can't use GOG Galaxy with this game at all which kind of sucks. No auto-updating or achievements makes this a real bummer. Playtonic needs to fix this asap. Even worse, if I install GOG Galaxy at all, even if it's not associated with Yooka Laylee it STILL breaks the game. GOG Galaxy wasn't running or anything. I uninstalled GOG Galaxy again, and voila, it works. Truly strange.

Simply signing out of GOG Galaxy works. No need for any uninstalling! You can even use the "Play" button inside Galaxy to start the game, you just need to be logged out of your account (using the menu with your account name).

Not true for everyone. It didn't matter if I ran it without being signed in or even not running GOG Galaxy at all. The only way it worked at all is by uninstalling GOG Galaxy completely. I even tried reinstalling GOG Galaxy but never signed in and started a new game but it was still broken. Either way it's a ridiculous workaround and Playtonic should be ashamed of themselves for not fixing a huge bug like this.
I can confirm this. Signing out doesn't help. I had to uninstall the program as well.
