I am playing XIII on an NVIDIA GeForce GT 430. When I play, the top of the screen has awful screen tearing. Even if I force the vertical sync to on in the NVIDIA Control Panel (with or without triple buffering), the issue persists.

For what it's worth, I am playing the game at 1024x768 resolution on a television that's native resolution is 1360x768. No other games I have played on my computer have had an issue with screen tearing that I was unable to resolve by using the NVIDIA Control Panel or by using the game's internal settings.

RESOLUTION: This issue is a result of improper display scaling. If you have an NVIDIA video card, check your NVIDIA Control Panel. In there, you can change the scaling options. Set the option to use GPU scaling as opposed to display scaling. This will resolve the issue.

I also found that you can edit the resolution with the xiii.ini file. This file is located in the C:\Program Files\GOG.com\XIII\system folder (or C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\XIII\system for 64-bit users). The resolution settings are under "FullscreenViewportX" and "FullscreenViewportY."
