This game is 100 times harder than XCOM ENEMY UNKNOWN. I recently started a new game and less than an hour later, my base got invaded by aliens and my team got wiped out. The aliens that invaded by base, wore bullet proof armor and used powerful weapons. How can I prevent this from happening again?
On which difficulty level are you playing? I'm on veteran and by the end of month three I haven't been invaded yet, but I also try to shoot down every ufo that comes in range. I remember in the old XCOM that on the max difficulty you can get invaded in the first month.

In my opinion, Xenonauts is harder on Geoscape level but easier on tactical level. The earlier tactical missions in XCOM and TFTD were deadlier, the aliens were more accurate and were oneshoting your rookies with reaction fire. Now they seem more forgiving. They also move alot unlike the original UFOs where they were hidding in some corner of a remote room and it took ages to find.
Forgive the necro here... but this reminded me of the old X-Com. I used to hate base invasions but when I saw the loot you could get, that all changed. There was nothing greater than getting an early invasion on a weak base. You would hire all the scrubs you could and fill them with the hardest punching stuff you could muster. Finally a use for all those heavy cannons! If your base was built well you could funnel the aliens into various choke points and win by the skin of your teeth. The 90% casualties were always worth the early game trove of heavy plasma and guided bombs. Ahh the memories.
