Long War of the Chosen Install Guide (GOG Offline Installer) (2025)
Method I used to get LWOTC installed on the XCOM2 WOTC offline installer:
1.) As of 2025, LWOTC requires the Alien Hunters DLC so you will need the XCOM 2: Reinforcement Pack. Older versions don't need the DLC so, in theory, you should be able to install LWOTC without the Alien Hunters DLC using an older version of LWOTC on their github (https[colon]//github[dot]com/long-war-2/lwotc/releases).
2.) Install XCOM2, WOTC, and the Reinforcement Pack. If you are using the Heroic Games Launcher, for the offline installer you can press the "Add Games" button, fill in the title XCOM 2 - War of the Chosen, press "Run Installer First", open the XCOM2 exe, proceed through setup (press exit at the end of setup), then press "Run Installer first" button again, do the same for the XCOM2 WOTC, then XCOM2 Reinforcement Pack.
3.) You'll need to manually download the pre-requisite mods for required for LWOTC as specified on their website https[colon]//steamcommunity[dot]com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2683996590 . These are
Better Second Wave Mod Support
WotC: robojumper's Squad Select
Yet Another F1

[WOTC] Community Promotion Screen
[WotC] Mod Config Menu
[WOTC] Revert Overwatch Rules Change
X2WOTCCommunityHighlander v1.29.0
* [WOTC] Accurate Situation Report
* For unknown reasons, the [WOTC] Accurate Situation Report wasn't able to download from the steam store for me. Regardless, LWOTC seems to work without it for me.
Right click and copy/paste each link for each mod into http[colon]//steamworkshop[dot]download/ and download the corresponding zip file
4.) Download the LWOTC mod (https[colon]//steamcommunity[dot]com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2683996590) using same the steps in #3
5.) Create a new "Mods" folder in your WOTC/XComGame folder
Windows: C:\GOG\XCOM 2\XCom2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Mods
Heroic Games Launcher: Heroic/Prefixes/default/XCOM2 - War of the Chosen/drive_c/GOG Games/XCOM 2/XCom2-WarOfTheChosen/XComGame/Mods/
6.) Extract all the pre-req mods into the "Mods" folder
7.) The zip/folders will all be numbered *2550561145* or something similar corresponding to the mod's Steam Store ID (I think?). Look for the filename inside the mod folder ending with the extention "XComMod". Rename the sub-mod folder to the same name. For example, if you see the file robojumperSquadSelect_WotC.XComMod , the folder name should be changed from *2550561145* to robojumperSquadSelect_WotC.
8.) Append the mods to XCOM 2/XCom2-WarOfTheChosen/XComGame/Config/DefaultModOptions.ini .
[Engine.XComModOptions]
ActiveMods="ModConfigMenu"
ActiveMods="BetterSecondWaveSupport"
ActiveMods="robojumperSquadSelect_WotC"
ActiveMods="X2WOTCCommunityPromotionScreen"
ActiveMods="WOTCRevertOverwatchRules"
ActiveMods="YetAnotherF1"
ActiveMods="X2WOTCCommunityHighlander"
ActiveMods="DLC2CommunityHighlander"
ActiveMods="LongWarOfTheChosen"
9.) Boot up the game and enjoy
I suggest saving a backup copy of the Mods folder and the Config folder just in case the mods bug/break the game so that you can simply copy/paste them and skip this tedious process if you ever need to reinstall.
