I'm getting the same error message myself; for anyone who might have a solution or be able to figure one out, I'm using a Windows 10, 2.4 GHz, 12 GB RAM, integrated graphics laptop. Thanks in advance!
Since the most recent update the message from earlier is gone, but now a black square opens up in the corner of the screen and I get a "Xanadu Next has stopped working" alert. Any insight to offer?

just wondering if you ever got this problem fixed and how. I just keep getting the same message "Xanadu Next has stopped working" at launch. I even tried GOG support and nothing.

I had this problem too. Tried running Windows compatibility troubleshooter for XANADU.exe, and apparently the game needed Windows 8 compatibility mode to work (I'm using 64-bit Win10). I haven't tried if the actual game is without problems yet, but at least I got the see the title screen.

Edit:
Actually, it seems like you don't need compatibility mode. Running the game without GoG in-game overlay is enough.

It worked, thank you so much! Just launched the game directly through the game file, without using GOG, and it finally worked. Again, thank you!

You're welcome! Starting the game directly from .exe does work, though you can also disable the over-lay by going to game's page -> more -> settings, and then deselecting the option box. Afterwards you can start the game from GoG client as usual.
Look up the blog on Helix Mod for this game.
This solved the issue i was haveing with it not even loading up, if Support is seeing this post too, ignor my request for a refund, the game works now.

had to set the frame buffer to unused aswell as the VooDoo2 wrapper and uncheck all the stuff in the EXE.
