I think it should be the VC++ 2010 versions, either x86 or x64 depending on how the X-Rebirth exe is compiled

Rebirth must be a 64bit game for sure wanting 12GB of RAM and all.

I just found a generic virus. It could have been interfering with this installer. I'm going to use the above to check the system files.

Nope, this had no effect. Compatibility checking reads "APP not compatible". FYI, I have plenty of memory and hard drive space.


Anyone? I'm baffled. I'm still looking for a solution.

Reinstall Windows?

There were serious issues with corruption throughout the system. I had do a reinstall from a blank drive wipe. New passwords. Currently reinstalling.

Every 6 months to a year. I have to do this. :P

Now, everything is back in place. Removed 3rd party utilities that were likely the cause.
