So, that's it, i'm done, was a nice try, maybe after MANY fixes i try again.

Can't create wings, which do what i tell them to do
- Mining-Wings (all mining ships) don't mine, only the commander does...
- Commander: Trade-Ship, Subordinates: Combat-Ships -> Escort Ship -> Trader sets course to his trading target, the "escorting" ships rush ahead, even if it's 10 jumps away... and the trader dies at jump 4, because his "escort" is waiting at the trading target... OR they lag so far behind, they let him die anyway...

Can't "explore" a sector
- the exploring ship explores just fine, UNTIL it has explored the oroginal visible space, then it starts to head in one direction and flies until it reaches the "end" of the sector... at this point, the explored sector is but a spec of dust on my map, all stations overlap each other... and the "send a ship in circles until all is explored" doesn't work either, because IT DOESN'T FIND ALL STATIONS (god only knows why not...)

Can't reliable autotrade
- you need a 3-Star captian to autotrade... well, only every 5 ships i build i get a 3-Star captain... and since i can't get them to trade as a wing... let's sell the <3-Star ship for a loss and try again... WHILE THE STATION IS OUT OF MATERIAL AND I CAN'T CANCEL...

Seriously, it's just a mess at the moment imho... so, i'm shelving it and wait for future updates... maybe 2.x? Or 3.x? Who knows...

Well, have fun and maybe i return... or it takes to long, and i just put 40 bucks down the drain *shrugs*

I`ve certainly noticed this. the only way to keep anything with my Freighters is to get a slow ship, like one of those Frigates and even then it`s touch-and-go if it stays with it..

I take it easy, haven`t tried mining and the autotrade doesn`t really bother me. It wasn`t even meant to be in at the start. Of course you, like everyone else, got used to it.

In fact that`s the problem with this game; they release it in what i can only call the still-testing phase. It`s like with Teleport which was never meant to Teleport you everywhere, now they limited it (good in my view), everyone hates it because they got used to it (I refused to use it).

It seems pointless to have fleets or do anything more than have 4-5 ships at a time... Staying small seems the way to go right now.

They should have held it back by at least 3 months, but i guess they HAD to get it out just in time for Christmas. And of course they wasted time with the admittedly pointless online Ventures.

I still do like the game though, just need those gaping holes in the ship fillling in and the squeaky wheels straightening.

I`ll admit I have taken a little rest off it and will see what the next patch brings.

The problem with that is, when a game is released and people review it there are a bunch of others that hold back and weigh the game on those reviews.
I know I do it a lot for most games; you check the negative reviews and if they aren't so bad and people seem to be having an okay time it's worth checking out.
What a bad start if it's bad enough means is that people don't buy it at the high price at release (not day 1 but the few months after) and by that time passing will then expect it to be discounted with hold over damage done to the 'brand'.
They already f&^%ed up with rebirth.
I didn't go with the extended editions that promised extra expansions and do you know why? See previous.
Now they have a direction their productions are going in and it's not trending to a positive gaming experience worth the money.
That's a bad thing.

I mean, yeah, i liked the autotrading (even if mining is more money, especially in the beginning), but i get it, it's to powerfull, ok, only 3-star captains... i can live with that...

But without trading fleets, even with 3-star captains, setting up a "fleet" (meaning 5 ships doing the same thing), that's a chore, i mean i have to set the tradingmaterials for every ship... give us a way to save "default behavior", and i can get it to work...
Without that, imagine 3 ships for EVERY material out there... setting it up is horror, and than you try to look through your assets... that's a frigging lot of ships... and without wings, no chance to organize them...

The idea was great, i liked the concept, played X back in the days, so i was thrilled to try this game... and it is fun, like you wrote, small, 5 to 10 ships, everything is fine... and now you want to expand, because big money is waiting... but you can't (won't), because of manually setting up every damn ship, no chance to "organize" your ships, and a really dumb way of setting up "escort" wings... and i'm not even talking about the ships which fly through station walls right after undocking (even if it looks hillarious), and the horrendous way the autopilot works...

like i said, i give it a go in maybe 2 to 3 patches and check it again... i hope, they fix it, cause at the beginning i loved the game. at the moment though... not so much.
