So anyone understands that a Core i9-9900K or Core i7-9700K from Intel and an RTX2080Ti from Nvidia has no problems running this game but how about lower hardware?

I have looked at an AMD Ryzen 5 2600, which has six cores and another six fake cores https://www.amd.com/en/products/cpu/amd-ryzen-5-2600, and that looks like it should be able to run the game. Right now I cannot find anything cheaper that looks like it could run the game.

If anyone has tried a 2xxx series processor from AMD I would like to hear about it, also other processors that are not so clearly above the recommended.
I have a Ryzen7 2700X which runs the game extremely well, in fact it isn`t even giving my Ryzen much of a test at all. X4 is designed to run on 6 cores and a Ryzen 2600 should easily do that job.

What i really need is faster ram and likely a better graphics card than a 1060 6 gig. But it all runs very well.

Consider getting good ram and a decent graphics card if you don`t already have them, although they can wait if you can`t afford it. Also make sure your Motherboard is good for your Ryzen- important.

Intel however are the fastest cpus and the 19 and top i7 will beat the Ryzen for gaming, but it`s not by that much especially when you consider the price.

I used to be an i5 user but changed to ryzen on an upgrade since it suited me for the price and the fact it deals with other jobs like graphics processing, video processing as well as games extremely well. The Ryzen is good for running multiple applications simultaneously. I sometimes play X4 while processing graphics, or watching a video or doing downloads.

Hi
I use an older Intel i7-4770K, which has 4 cores running at 3.5 GHz, which I got for 130€ on ebay.
My GPU is an AMD RX570 with 4GB. And I have 16 GBs of RAM.
I think that's rather ok.

I run the game on 1080p at max visual details except for filters which are disabled,
but to me that looks better than having them anyway.
In space I get framerates in the range of 50 to 90 fps, usually sitting comfortably above 60.
But on spacestations things can drop to 36 with an avarage of perhaps 40 fps.

And ... I have quite a few ships executing orders at the same time.
So far I haven't even seen a system with Nvidia's GTX 1080 doing much better.

hope that helps
So either a modern six-cores or a fast four-cores with HT/SMT should work.

I presume the requirements stated as minimum are for late game when they have added the clearly missing features and this: "Removed hull damage on collisions until the auto pilot has learned to fly around things!"* (from update 1.20 log) is turned back on.

* Not my spelling mistake. I just copied it.
How about RAM? Does the game prefer high speed or low timings?

I found a video about a player pushing the game to its limits on their hardware. It made me totally scrap the idea of getting a 4-core processor, at least without HT/SMT (2 threads/core).

Yeah... The Auto Pilot on this Sucks...
I Quite Often find myself inside an Asteroid when I take a few seconds and Look at the Map...
The i7-4770K I use has got 8 threads too actually.
Just forgot to mention it :)
Now actually playing the game on a new computer with a Ryzen 5 3600X (6c/12t) and 16GB of RAM but with my old, old graphics card which only has the minimum 3GB of VRAM. On lowest graphics settings in 1020x1080p it runs really well but then this is version 2.6HF2 of X4 and I have just started out so seen nothing of the world yet and own nothing but my starter ship.

I tried increasing a few settings up from rock bottom... BAM! Out of VRAM :-( I could probably keep testing if there is any one setting I could increase a tad but tonight I just want to play.

If you do not have at least 3GB of VRAM on your GPU, I suggest playing on lower resolution than 1920x1080p.

On Egosoft's forum they warned that with the highest settings even 11GB of VRAM, like the RTX 2080 Ti has, will not be enough. Of course I forgot for which resolution but I guess "standard" 4k.

EDIT: It may be a coincidence that some graphical details went missing. The game is not terribly optimised yet.

Looking and staring at an offer for an AMD RX 580 with 8GB or VRAM. Not a super powerful card by today's standards and with quite high power draw but the price is soooo tantalising. Annoying not knowing whether the offer ends in less than an hour or not as another shop well known for good sales starts its Cyber Monday in an hour.
