It's out, and apparently it's running rather well. However I cannot find any instructions on obtaining it that don't start with an ugly S-word.
I'm absolutely willing to give GOG and Egosoft my money, but not if the game requires Windows, Steam or any combination of the two.

Is the GNU/Linux beta available with the GOG release or not? There's no information on the store page, not even a "coming someday". What gives?

Per Egosoft, the final Linux build will be available on GOG but not the beta.

The final Linux version will also be released on GOG, but we will not be making Beta versions available there for Linux.

Ta, I eventually managed to get the same from Egosoft, though not without considerable confusion.

I'm now told via the Egosoft forum that the 2.50 (non-beta) release is now available for GNU/Linux here on GOG, yet the store page still lists Windows as the only supported platform. The confusion continues.
Is this game now available for Linux through GOG or not?

I'd prefer to give my money to you guys, but i'm not quite as picky as OP

It should be as Egosoft supposedly has given the files to GOG. Are you using Galaxy? Can you see it in there yet? If not, maybe contact support and ask.

I do not use Galaxy, it is distributed for Windows only.

Ah yes, that is right. I forgot for a moment as I do not use it either. We just have to hope GOG will manage to put it up today.
Disappointingly it is not available yet (unless it is and they just forgot to mention it on the game card) and now the weekend has come so nothing will happen before Monday at the earliest.
Yeah, it's a bit of a bummer but from what I read on the EgoSoft forum, GOG ran into an issue and are handling it. I don't know if they'll mess with it over the weekend, but I hope so!
yep I saw this and still bought on gog partially in hopes of keeping them alive given that cd projekt seems to be having revenue problems this year.... I would have preferred steam for simplicity and HONESTLY timely updates... plus all of the extra creature comforts...

BTW you guys d know that Steam DRM is COMPLETELY OPTIONAL by the publisher right? AND they OBVIOUSLY CAN have other shittier DRM as well right? (cantplay, crapigin?)
So the store page hasn't been updated(yet), but I can download the Linux version now! Woohoo!

Thank you Egosoft, thank you GOG.

Yes Linux version just went live! :)
In order to unlock more game start(s) before there will be Galaxy for Linux you will need to mod your game:
