Can anyone please help.

I have got to mission 6 in Priests rings, but every time I undock from the station after I have the LFL device, I get as far as "you are being hailed" Saya appears at the gate, and then I CTD.

I have scoured the forums here, GOG and through Google and non of the proposed fixes work.
I have tried all of the compatibility options, disabled sound cards, renamed the mov folder, all updates are done (X2 is on 1.5) including the latest graphic drivers.
I have tried swapping the save game file from the steam edition and tried playing with a freshly installed GOG version.
Refresh rates and resolution settings have been changed, V-sync and pretty much everything I can see in the Nvidia control panel, and this has made no difference.
I am not running any mods.

Has anybody played this recently and had this problem and fixed it?

My last resort is to try an obtain a save game from just after this point, does anyone have one they could send me? Or is there a mod to skip missions?

Any help would be very welcome.

Did you also check what kind of error messages you are getting? Event viewer is the place to look, in case you did not know. Sorry if you did know but so many Windows users seem not to.

Hi Themken.

I'm not that familiar with Event Viewer if I'm honest, but it says the following:

Well, this is the crash log for the Steam edition of the game.

I found this thread with some different solutions: even if you have already tried many of them, maybe you can get some useful hints.
Can always google those codes for more info.

This one looks really strange as several players have this problem when I read on Steam and Egosoft's forum.

http://forum.egosoft.com/viewforum.php?f=65 (this subforum for Reunion and older X games only).

Changing between Windows compatibilities and full/windowed screen or even play for a bit on another PC seems to be the way around this.

Thanks dr.schliemann.

I have logged this on the Steam forums too, but no response yet.

I think I have tried all of the solutions listed in the link, even a clean install from the original CD's, a clean GOG version and then copying the save game file across and it still does the same.
I'll keep digging, but thanks for the help anyway.
Thanks again Themken.

I have tried all of the compatibility setting. I even thought it might be a corrupt save game, so went back and played it through again, but got the same problem.

Looks like this has been going on for years, with no definitive fix. Different things work for different rigs it seems.

I might rebuild an old rig on Vista or XP, I have all the components (hoarding much!).

Yes, annoying bug but I guess very hard to pinpoint the cause of. I did not play the game yet but since the hardware requirements are so very low, I will be able to try on several PCs when I do.

Good luck out there!

Did you try the general trouble shooting for the X games with making sure you have to problematic sound codecs and that your motherboard's/laptop's firmware is up to date and you only have a single sound device in active use. No need to answer me but ask yourself.
I don't think i played it that far before for some reason i abandoned the game but why don't you send me your save file and i can try it.
Though i have k-lite mega codecs packs installed so don't know if that could make a difference.
Also for some reason it only detects my intel hd 4000 instead of my amd radeon hd 7650m graphic card in this game even though i switched the graphic in the switchable graphic options.

Fonzer: i have k-lite mega codecs packs
Suggestion: Uninstall that and install something like VLC (videolan full stop org) instead, which usually picks up and plays whatever your Windows does not play. You do not even have to use their player if you dislike it.

Can't since i need it for some japanese games like trails in the sky series.
Don't know why some developers say i need k-lite for it to show movies ingame properly.
I always installed VLC but doesn't that only help for videos on the desktop and not ingame?
Thanks to everyone that has offered help with this problem.

I have finally got X2 to work without crashing!

I used RivaTuner Statistics Server and capped the frame rate to 60 using this.
Capping framerates using windows did not work, but somehow Riva Tuner did, so now I can continue with the missions.

Also interesting solution.
