Congratulations!
Thanks guys! Save the medals and big congratulations for when I capture a J :).
Years have passed, some aspects of my life have changed in dire and unexpected ways, X4 came out along with some DLCs, yet I, my friends, still find myself playing X3:AP.

I've played it on a (then) ATI card, I've played it on Nvidia. I've played it on a laptop and on a desktop. I've played it on Windows for years, and I'm now playing it on Linux (albeit using Wine). At this point I think I've realized I'll probably keep at it, in one form or another, for the rest of my life.

I've since abandoned the game previously described in this thread, but I've started another (also sandbox) and am nearly back where I was years ago, missing a few captured ships perhaps, but, with the lessons I've learned in my previous game, a far better developed and better spread economy for my "space empire".

Watch this space for WinterSnowfall's X3:AP corner of the galaxy 2.0.
As I set out to rebuild my collection of boarded ships that I'd acquired in the previous game, I was in for a surprise when I started the hunt for a Brigantine.

Finding one was easy enough - there was one loitering in Lost Order. At first it seemed like easy pray: I'd just kite it away from the jumpgate in my Astreus Hauler, eat at its shields with my lateral mounted PBCs and then call in my Sirokos for the kill (by boarding).

Imagine my surprise when just after I had brought in my Sirokos a second Brigantine entered the system via jump gate! Luckily I had not one, but two Boreases lying around that I could call in to take it out, but not without both taking small hits to their hulls. Damn, these Brigantines may not be the best M2s around, but the sheer number of mount points they offer does make them pack a punch.

It all went well afterwards, but I ended up with a 20M credits repair bill for both Boreases and my captured Brigantine. Not exactly cheap, but something I can recover from after a few missions and several more side-boardings where I sell the ships I capture and only train my marines for the next objective: that elusive Xenon Q.
