Hello, this game grabbed my attention recently. I am probably going to get it soon, but I want your opinions about where to get it. Here on GOG or on Steam?

I usually go with GOG, if given the alternative, because I like it so much better. But when dealing with newer games I always worry that support is better in the more popular platform. I've seen some games (not many) not being updated as much here, or locking content out, or being so much slower to release updates, in comparison with steam.

So I want to be sure. How is your experience in that regard about this with this game in particular?

Also, if there is any multiplayer content, is it platform dependant or would I be able to play with users from steam too? (Sorry if there isn't any mp, I haven't researched the game that much to be honest, but I know I would like it for the SP only anyways)

Cheers!

This game?! Which of the nine games? Since you are talking about updates, I guess we can safely assume X4:Foundations though.

Egosoft usually do their duty but for some persistant trouble with the Linux version of the Terran War pack (Terran Conflict + Albion Prelude together). The only thing is, there is no beta channel without a client so no beta testing for Linux on GOG unless you run Galaxy in Wine.

TLDR: Just buy it here! :-)

Haha yes I was talking about X4, I forget this is a series forums not a game forum.

Well, I use windows so while I feel for linux users that wouldnt be a problem for me.

I'm glad to hear that, in that case I will go with GOG

Thanks!

X4 not have multiplayer, but you can send a ship to others players games through the ventures. For now, the ship is send to a random player game, you cannot select to where send it. This feature isn't platform dependant, as it use the Egosoft servers for it. You need to login in the game with your Egosoft site account.
