I only played X3-TC for a couple of months before this one came out.
This "Universe??" has 41 Systems that I have found. ( ihave not delved into the Online Parts as yet)
Is 41 Systems all they have??

X3-TC has 230 or so. That makes this about 1/5th of what X3-TC is...

There are also some things that do not seem to work in here.
Trade Items that show in the Encyclopedia, as "Build This", do not show on That Type of Station as Trade Items.

Formation for Ships does not do what the Command says: "Formation Abreast", and "Attack My Target", Do NOT Work... The only thing I can get any accompaning ships to do Is "FOLLOW" me... They do Not Execute Formation Commands.

X4 is smaller than X3:TC, with fewer ships, whole races missing, huge swathes of the encyclopedia blank, and lots of bugs and missing features. This is expected from an Egosoft game though. The original X3 was also not in a good state on release, but was improved a lot over time. X3:TC was released 3 years after that, and I fully expect X4 to improve massively over the same time period.

They have already been patching bugs, and more content should come later with expansions/DLC. The large number of inactive jump gates gives them plenty of room to add stuff.

The X series of games are for patient people - not just the gameplay, but in the games' development too.
Thanks UnT2

I am now up to 43 or 44 systems. Not sure if they were given to Formerly inactive Jump gates or what ever, but I Agree, it is Much Smaller...

Many DLC Items Cost, and IMHO, most are Not Worth the Cost as I have seen them on many other games...
SPOILER:

The X-universe consists of 47 systems, with each system being constructed of up to 3 sectors. In total there are 59 sectors linked by super highways, orbital accelerators or jump gates.

Also, check out the ingame stats where you can see how many sectors you have already discovered. Make sure to find all of them in order to get the corresponding achievement.

Good luck, pilot! :)

Thanks... (I Currently have 47 Systems, and 57 Sectors) Guess I can Keep Looking for what I Missed...

BTW, as this is still being Developed, is there any chance that Problems in Developement could be the Reason The Ship "Formation" Commands do not get ships to Fly as Commanded??
My Ship Will FOLLOW me, But They Will NOT "Join Formation Abreast" Nor will they "Engage My Target" as I have given Command to do...??

Wierd Crap keeps happening when giving ship Orders...
I had one "Join My Squad" It did, and came to the stsyem I was in. I Then Told it "Engage My Target", and it Sat Next to the last Station I had Launched from when I went back out to continue Scouting...
I Killed Several enemies, while the ship sat there near the sation Spinning, and then I Cliacked on it and Selected "Remove All Orders" and the Thing Came over to where I was in Space.......

It will "Fly To", It will "Follow" Me, and it will "Explore" Areas Designated, though Much Smaller than the Circle around that area.

But NO Combat Commands EVER Have Worked for me.

Now that you have seen quite a bit of the game and tried playing something really buggy; put the game away for now and go play something else until at least version 2.0 or a hotfix or two for that one. Personally I am in no hurry to try out the bugs.

Thanks, I did take that step Yesterday...
Technically, this game is Bigger than X3:TC.

yes it has less sectors but the sector are alot bigger than in X3:Tc.

More sector just gave x3tc the illusion it was bigger.

here they went with a the More Space aproach and less about sectors

Yes, you can keep flying in any direction forever, making it technically enormous, but most sectors have all the interesting stuff in a small area that doesn't take long to explore with the travel drive. The superhighway effectively shrinks the central sectors right down too, allowing them to be traversed in seconds.

p.s. I don't want to make it sound like I dislike the game. I've been playing it a lot and it's fun regardless of the bugs and missing bits.

While this is true you can also increase the size of sectors just fly to the border and keep going, you will see the sector kinda "zoom out" FX doing so will increase the sector sizes in your map.. basically makes sector somewhat infinite.

I have done this, and in so doing, Found a couple of Bases I Missed first Scouting Trip.
But, I am still at 45 Systems, and 57 Sectors...
I have not run into any other Jump Gates or other things that would reveal new Space Locations.

I don't know the thinking behind the Programing, but, to me, A Sector should be Bigger than a System, and should be made up of Several Systems. This seems to be the reverse of that Thinking...??
There are a couple of other things I see that, to me, have no reason...
The Legend does not show: The Grey Dot on the lower Right Center of the HUD Display. I sence it has to do with Communications, or Radar?? But not sure.
There is also the Red Dot That Represeents Missiles, and at Times, that is Replaced with a RED Arrow, Spinning Counter Clock Wise... What does That Represent??

I am also confused by The Reputation Situations I see all the time.
In Many games I have played, you could make AI Friendly, Neutral, or Hostile, Based upon the way you interact with them. Fight Their Enemies, and they eventually get Neutral if they are Hostile at first contact.

The Reps in this seem to have NO LOGIC Behind them. I get AI to +15 to around + 25, and while I Fly around, I run into Those Races, and find some as Equal to the Rating Number, and others of the Same Race as - 5, and still others as RED, and -25 on first encountering them...

I Could Expect to have them TURN RED if they scanned me, and found illegal Goods in my ship, but on First Encounter, if the Race is + anything, I would think All of Them Would Be Friendly or at least Neutral...

In Follow Up to the last post, I have discoved that The Races who come into View which have a -5 Rate on the info tab, Change After they Scan my ship, and Demand drop of my Cargo.

If They are Teladi or any other Race, They Become SCA, or Scale Plate Pact After the Demand To Drop... (They Become Pirates...)
