X4: Foundations' next DLC and v4.0 of the game have been delayed to next year but we will get some small patch(es) without new content before that with the beta for v3.30 HF1 having been available for a couple of days now (yes, on GOG too if you use Galaxy).

I hope they can improve the engine and pathfinding.
The open beta for version 4.0 arrived today.
That's unfortunate, but now I have time to upgrade my computer.
Ryzen 5800x should be capable of properly running this game. Maybe a 6700XT will follow.
Mark the 16th of March in your calendars!

A release date has been set and it is so far in the future that I suspect they should be able to make it. I suspect they plan on adding yet more new things to the game or I cannot see why they set such a late date.

We all know how GOG "loves" Linux and timely updates to offline "legacy" installers, though.
I do not expect the game to be available here till the evening of 22nd of March in the best case scenario. :(

And we know EgoSoft and its famous quality levels when it comes to updates, so it is a safe bet to say by that time the first "hotfix" would be out on Steam™ at least. :)

One can not rush when dealing with GOG. :)

Yes yes, on Linux we need extra patience but I also write for all those playing on Windows.

I "played" a bit the other day, or more like I let the pilot try to fly to our destination on her own while I was doing other things. After forty minutes and the pilot still had not managed to hit the highway, I gave up. I feel like Egposoft needs to hire a mathematician to help with the pathfinding.

We're coming up on the one year anniversary of when I directly asked EgoSoft to look into updating the X3TC/AP Linux installers on GOG to the latest version... and when they said that they would at some point. I'll bake a cake especially for the occasion.

My point being, it might not be just the typical GOG offline installer lag in this case.

It is sad how that update came out over three years ago and still is not working as intended here :-( but now I am starting to talk about another game than the thread was about. Let us hope the installers for this game arrives within five days of its release (two office days should really suffice though).
Unfortunately, non-english versions of the offline installers are as yet lacking a bit behind, with CoH missing and SV being on version 3 still.

However, user beko has posted a helpful workaround that is somewhat buried in the Egosoft forums (p=5021479), so I thought I'd share it here as well (partial quote from the comment):

* Installed **Linux** x4_foundations_4_00_45652.sh to /games/linux/X4_Foundations/
* Installed the package innoextract (v 1 . 8) (For me: dnf install innoextract)
* Put the **Windows** DLC files into /games/linux/X4_Foundations/game
setup_x4_cradle_of_humanity_4.00_(64bit)_(45636)-1.bin
setup_x4_cradle_of_humanity_4.00_(64bit)_(45636).exe
setup_x4_split_vendetta_4.00_(64bit)_(45636)-1.bin
setup_x4_split_vendetta_4.00_(64bit)_(45636).exe
* Extracted the **Windows** DLC files manually:

# cd /games/linux/X4_Foundations/game
# innoextract --exclude-temp --extract setup_x4_split_vendetta_4.00_\(64bit\)_\(45636\).exe
# innoextract --exclude-temp --extract setup_x4_cradle_of_humanity_4.00_\(64bit\)_\(45636\).exe

Run game, shows both DLC.
I apologise for never checking other languages aside from English.

So I checked now and the situation is bad or terrible for all languages but English, at least on Linux. Rather weak support from GOG.

I've been informed by GOG Support that the DLC installers ("English" ones) are "universal" for all languages. Did not test this myself, but if it is true, then… what has stopped GOG from making a "universal" installer for the base game in the first place?
