On Windows XP, wf.exe crashes when loading patch.dll

I tried all combinations of settings in the gog launcher, but still doesn't work

I found the solution in this post from 2018: gog. com/forum/worms_series/worms_forts_crash_on_intro_video_play_wfexe_doesnt_work_anymore (with my account history i can't post links right at the moment...)

you need to delete all the mpg files from the FMV folder.

The advantage is that the loading time is even faster

The another poster said add wf.exe at LAV video decoder blacklist... but how? Anyway the FMV videos are completely useless

edit: how can i accept this as solution?

I think they are supposing you have installed the K-Lite Codec Pack (which is probably advisable by the way). The LAV Filters contained in the pack have a blacklisting feature which is very useful if a game crashes during the playback of a video. In order to blacklist a game, follow this guide.
Otherwise you could try by adding the "/NOMOVIES" command line argument to the game's executable.
