I noticed that the GOG WiC Complete Edition is set up in a way that the dx10 options gets disabled everytime you restart the game, even when you're enabled it before. Probably a good precaution as this always seemed to be the last unfixable flaw with the game on modern systems, after the out of memory and startup fixes have found their workarounds and fixes.

But of course the dx10 option can always be forced on via the settings file in documents and I winder if anyone recently tried and found it working again or if there is another fix for this I'm not aware of.

Just for the record, try this.

Navigate to here "C:\Users\$#%#$\Documents\World in Conflict

Open up "Game Options.txt"

change "myFullscreenFlag" to "0" instead of 1. (this will force worderless windowed)


Then change

"myDX10Flag 1"

"myCloudShadowsFlag 1"

Try that. I was able to get cloud shadows to work.

Might have to make that file "read only" but the shadows and whatnot definitely work.
