When I install the game and start it up, it tries to boot up, but it will only get as far as changing the aspect ratio and what not then, before anything else can load up it closes. Just wondering if anyone knows any tips to get it running, I have tried running as an administrator, as well as a hand full of other tips listed on GOG but nothing has worked yet.

Ive got the same problem. I downloaded RealRTCW mod and still the problem persists.

Edit: Finally I found a fix. Fresh installation + widescreen fix did the job for me. Basically I followed instructions from this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUWnz8RJG40

I also discovered that RTCW establishes an old file with memory usage at the time of his release. The file is called hunkusage.dat, delete it. Then the value of "com_hunkmegs" command in your wolfconfig.cfg in "Main" folder or in the console: "set com_hunkmegs "72" by default, increase it to 160 or 512 to be sure to not have any crashes in future, even trying HD stuff and other map packs. After this restart the game and play a new game, avoid any old savegame!!
