Had to go to Steam just to get an answer from the dev. Apparently GoG isn't good enough for them.

Apparently the answer is that you can't collect loot twice because the devs don't want players to *checks notes* play their game. The word they used was 'grind', but still.

They didn't bother explaining why already-collected loot mechanically respawns on the map if it doesn't actually add to your total when you pick it up. I guess it helps completionists so that's nice. For them.

I saved up and bought a map to help me find gold.

Because I did this I'm basically softlocked out of all weapon upgrades until I finish the first chapter. That's a third of the entire game. I have no way to restart my progress. I'm STUCK with this decision. I don't expect the dev to make wild sweeping changes for one person but also when you sell a product it helps if you're not a dick about it.

A game written by sane people would simply *not respawn the gold* that couldn't be collected.

Is it really so unreasonable for a player to assume that picking up gold in the game world is the same thing as collecting it?

Yes, according to the dev. Apparently that's loopytown crazytalk for weirdos who don't understand things.

I guess I could play the community mods but I'd really rather play the official maps so I can see the monsters in their natural habitat first.

I love a lot of stuff about this game but some of the design choices are just plain cruel. Also it's 2025 and you're a PC game, I should be able to rebind my damn mouse wheel.

Just did the first two maps/levels.

Collected over 5K on the first one, even more on the second.

Got no gold reward for either of them.

NONE.

What's up with that?

Can anyone explain this, or how the gold rewards work?
