It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Credit for these instructions goes to a GOG user PildaCZ.

The game supports only 4:3 resolutions and if you want to play it on a wider monitor, the screen will stretch and it is not good of course.

You can simply force your monitor to display all in 4:3 format but this solution kinda sucks since you would have to set it each time you want to play the game.

Another solution is to use DXWnd hooker.

In DXWnd you need to set this:

1. File->Import...->Wizards and Warriors.dxw (the file is in the folder exports where the program is installed)

2. Right click on the new added icon in the program->Modify->Main->Path:->select the file deep6.exe in the instalation directory of the game

3. Main->Position->Window Initial Possition & Size->X=0, Y=0, W=1440, H=1080 (the W and H numbers are resolution of the 4:3 window for 1920/1080 monitors, use different numbers if you have another resolution)

4. Main->Hide desktop background (this will set the unused sides to black color)

5. Main->Desktop center (this will center the window to the center)

6. Video->Window style->modal (this will remove the tittle bar and borders from the window)

7. Video->Hide Taskbar (this will hide windows taskbar, unfortunately, it is kinda broken an you have to turn it on after
each time you quit the game. If you use the native windows fucntion for automatic hidding the taskbar, you don't have to use this)

8.DirectX->DirectX Version Hook->DirectX 11

If you want to have higher resolution, appy the graphic patch (apply the highest possible resolution there) and set resolution 800/600 in the game. If you don't set this resolution in the game, the graphic patch won't work, so don't forget!

This can be achieved much easier by setting your driver scaling to preserve the aspect ratio when scaling.

Not sure where it is in windows 10 (probably RMB-click on Desktop?), but it should be in the "Nvidia Control Panel" under Display/Adjust desktop size and position. (see attachment)

You could also configure your monitor to keep the aspect ratio when scaling (which i usually prefer since its universal). Most modern monitors are able to do that.

I can see it now, thanks. But it does nothing because it is just its default settings. Or do you mean also to check the settings "suppress regime of change aspect ration set by games and programs"? (I tried it but I got an error)

I think you should switch "perform scaling" from "display" to "gpu". Sorry i showed my current configuration that lets the monitor do the scaling.

I will do. Thanks for the tip.
For AMD cards it's:

- double click the "Radeon Settings" icon in the bottom right corner
- the "Display" tab
- "GPU Scaling" must be On
- "Scaling Mode" must be set to "Preserve aspect ratio"

Does this work only windowed?
would love to be able to set the fullscreen to 1440x1080 instead of the max 1024x768

I had trouble with this, because I didn't realize you had to apply it to individual monitors. Once I figured it out, I'm glad I did. I have an ultra-wide someone gave me, and it makes all sorts of games look terrible. I always use the windows update drivers, since it started working properly in newer Windows. This is definitely a strong case for using the AMD/Radeon software package.

THANK YOU to the folks sharing solutions. I went down a couple dxwrappers trying to get the game running properly on an ultrawide, but it was the folks suggesting changing Nvidia settings that did it.

For those using Nvidia graphics cards:

1) Open NVIDIA Control Panel
2) Go to "Adjust desktop size and position" in left menu, under the "Display" category
3) Scaling mode: "Aspect ratio"
4) Perform scaling on: "GPU
4) Apply

Did this and my next open of W&W working perfect on an ultrawide, no off-ratio stretching. No need to get a wrapper around D3D or DirectDraw, etc.

Thanks, works like charm :)
