At level 50, you would have enough experience to max 6 out of your 7 stats. You would have to pick a dump stat.

On Ascension Peak, you have all kinds of enemies, ranging from low level trash to high level threats.

My current average party level is 37, just enough to identify the ArmeGazers that occasionally spawn.

My love of this game trumps my hate for grinding levels. I have successfully 100%ed this game, (except for the final battle, of course), with a portal set inside the Cosmic Circle.

It's interesting to see what kinds of enemies spawn, especially when you get to high levels. As George Carlin said, a few winners, a whole bunch of losers.

Hanging out on the peak sometimes results in easy experience, especially ArmeGazers, who give 1M experience to each party member (assuming a 6 person party with no RPCs).

At this point, it's all for show, as the Dark Savant is tough (I think he's level 38).
Even 1 million XP isn't much at high levels; it takes around 2 billion XP to reach max level, which is around 2,000 such battles.

Many of the JRPGs I've played, even those with quick battles, I beat before even reaching the 1,000 battle mark. (Incidentally, in most 3D versions of Final Fantasy 3 (excluding the DS version), some sidequests, like the one to get Ultima Weapon, require something like 1,000 battles to unlock.)
Level 38 while trying to replay Biogoo's solo fairie psionic run, or rather,
had already finished it before him because he played less often in front of the camera.
Probably lil higher in some solo runs through Dodd's mod, dont remember exactly.
Level 48 soloing in White Wolf Mod, but that has enemies with very high XP,, iirc up to 20M
and I probably would have been done by level 46, but had 8k++ kills and decided to break the 10k barrier.
Reaching level 50 with 6 people in vanilla is bordering on masochism in my book.
If you want to reach those really high levels, either:
* Play Wizardry 7 and try to defeat some of those optional bosses
* Play some of the Japanese games. Wizardry Gaiden 3/4/DIMGUIL have what's often referred to as infla-dungeons, where you are expected to reach very high, possibly even triple digit, levels. You also see this in Elminage Gothic, where the final post-game dungeon likely takes you up to around level 400, and even then there are *still* enemies who will easily wipe your party out.
Grinding to level 50 in W8 requires a strong ranged combat game (remember how I stressed Senses for all of my characters for Eagle Eye for the late game?)

Even casters can be tough in the late game, with Wrist Rockets, and good stones (Medusa Stones weigh less than other stones).

I have noted that casters have a significantly worse chance to hit enemies beyond thrown range. Against long range enemies, casters have around a 50% chance to hit, while all others almost always hit.

I"m not complaining though, as ammo can be freely bought (just rest enough near Ferro).

I have managed about what a sane person would manage: Level 40 Fighter and Rogue, Level 38 Valkyrie and Ranger, Level 37 Bishops. At this point, enemy spawns are not worth it. I have successfully 100%ed the game, as far as the game designers have imagined.
