Hi, just a quick question since I wasn't able to find any info on this. I've gone through the mountain dungeon, defeated Nebdar and collected the items in the reward room, but there are still plenty of red blips (and a couple of yellow ones) on the radar. I've tried taking a different path but they all lead to the corridoor with the teleporting mushrooms which just seems to have the one solution. Is there a way to get to those monsters or are they just placed out of bounds to troll you?

They're probably in other retro dungeons.

Thing is, to my understanding, that all three retro dungeons are on the same submap, but at different elevations. As a result, the radar will show the enemies from the other retro dungeons on the same map, making that radar (and, incidentally, the game's automap function) not particularly useful in these dungeons.

So they are. Thanks, that was precisely the case.
This, and the fact that there tend to be annoying mechanics, is why I don't bother with the retro dungeons. It's a nice easter egg, but in no part is it canon to the main story line.

There are a few times that this annoying elevation feature happens: Lower Monastery, Arnika, Trynton, Marten's Bluff, Mt. Gigas Caves unexplored section, Sea Caves, Rapax Rift, Rapax Castle Main Level, Upper Rapax Castle. This is why it's almost essential to always have X-Ray running (and even then, it's still sometimes confusing).

Tbh, if I didn't have x-ray on constantly I probably wouldn't have picked up blips from the other dungeons :D. Didn't know that many maps had this issue, the only thing that came to mind were the moat crocs at Marten's fort, which were still distinguishable from proper threats by being the only yellow ones. As for the dungeons, as far as I remember the graveyard one was the most maze-like, can't remember the 2nd, but the one in the mountains was entirely linear and not much trouble.
when in doubt, refer to retro dungeon maps (mountain dungeon is visible, other two can be accessed via link below the map)
