I am currently trying to solo Wizardry 5, and I was using the MAHAMAN/MALOR trick to get my stats high enough to change into a Lord, when this happened:
*: Sofia (my character casts MAHAMAN), is now level 12.
*: Enemy (must have been an Ice Phantom) attacks Sofia, paralyzing her.
*: Game over since she was my only party member.
I reloaded a save state at this point. I realized later, however, that I could probably have picked her up from the dungeon (unless I got *really* unlucky), and because the battle didn't end with victory or the party running away, she would still have avoided the XP loss, and therefore would easily be able to reach level 13 again, exactly if I had been able to MALOR out of the battle.
