Having real trouble getting Wizardry 8 working on Windows 8.1 Pro. It worked perfectly fine on Windows 7. Now when I start it, nothing happens and there is a 'Wiz8.exe' (or whatever the .exe is) has stopped working message in Event Viewer. So far I have tried....

1. Re-downloading from GOG.
2. Running as admin
3. Running in compatibility mode.

Any other suggestions?
1. Wizardry 8 works just fine on my 8.1 pro laptop.
2. The start shortcut is called "Launch Wizardry 8" (without quotes).
3. Depending on your settings the uac (User Account Control) may ask for you to click yes before allowing it to run.
4. What screen resolution have you got?
5. Run the "3Dsetup" and make Glide2x the graptics... miles fast 2d sound... then press the "test sound" button.
6. What anti-virus program is on your system?
7. Does the 'device magager' (control panel) show an issue?

4a. Screen resolution can be set from the "nglide_config" if you have some strange widescreen set then dial it back to 1024X768 and set the refresh rate to about 65... these setting are low but you can push them back up after you get it to boot.
