Every time I try to save I get a "disk error". In the options you are supposed to target the location of the save I think, but when I try to use a basic location I my E drive, I get an error every time. How do I save?

Thanks
For "savegame drive" make sure it's BLANK. Just click it and hit enter. Then it should save. Be aware that it will always save to "SAVEGAME.DBS" in the /Wizardry 6/ subfolder, and when you load, it will only load SAVEGAME.DBS from the /Wizardry 6/ subfolder. If you want multiple saves (and you do) you're going to need to make manual backups.

In a normal Bane install, the "savegame drive" would be a floppy drive. Bane is actually hard-coded to only read 5-1/4" or 3.5" floppies, it CANNOT read or write to a hard drive natively.* Thus, in a DOSBox install of a retail version, you'd have to do some shenanigans when mounting the drive to mimic a floppy drive. Of course, this is the GOG version and doesn't require any of those steps because of tech savvy. Leave "savegame drive" blank and you'll be fine.

*Actually it CAN read/write to a hard drive, but only within its own folder. Trying to do it anywhere else just bugs out the program. If you had a "saves" subfolder, you could put "\saves\" in the box instead of leaving it blank, which might help with organization. It's still only going to save/load the SAVEGAME.DBS file, though.

Awesome, thanks a ton. Now for the other obvious question. How do I create multiple save spots?

Thanks again!
Just make copies of your save file and rename them to something else.

If you want to reload them, make a copy of the backup and name it SAVEGAME.DBS and the game will load it without killing your backup.

Assuming Wizardry 6 is installed to C:\Games\Wizardry6

1. Create a directory at C:\Games\Wizardry6\SAVES
2. Under game configuration, change the savegame drive option to "\SAVES\N" (without quotes) where N is any number.

The next time you save the game, the save file will be created at C:\Games\Wizardry6\SAVES\NSAVEGAM.DBS.

Whenever you want to create a new save file, just change N.

Great idea. Just tested it myself, but you'll want to use: "\SAVES\N\" with a backslash at the end.
Yes. This works great. I was a bit concerned about having only 1 saved game. Thanks.
