title says it all if not I will play the dos version of 7 to get a ported party

I don't see why you shouldn't be able to transfer to Wiz Gold, but you should play the superior DOS version anyway.
Yes, Wizardry Gold can import saves. Choose Import (BANE) at the main menu, then change the file type from Wizardry Savegame to All Files (otherwise the saves won't be visible) and go to where they are saved; by default this is C:\GOG Games\Wizardry 6 and 7\Wizardry 6

Wizardry 8 can in turn import saves from either version of Wizardry 7, but this time you need to copy your saves into the Saves\Import folder where Wizardry 8 is installed and then use the 7→8 button when starting a new game.
thanks

why is the dos version superior? does it have more content or is it a matter of taste?

Diplomacy doesn't work in Gold.
Also, the artwork is superior in the DOS version, but I guess that's a matter of taste. The Gold version has more childish, anime like portraits. It also has cringeworthy voice acting.
