I am a huge fan of the Wizardry games, but have a lot of issues with my hands. Can anyone remind me how much mouse control is required in all three of the available games? I want to buy them, but I would also want to be able to control the games with my dictation software. If that's too much of a hassle, it may not be worth it.

Thanks!

Wizardry 6 and 7 can be completely controlled from the keyboard when in keyboard mode (see below). Wizardry Gold and Wizardry 8 are built around mouse input so rely on it for the inventory/journal/etc.; Wizardry 8 has expansive hotkeys for all common combat actions (and also quick saving/loading) but still requires mouse input for the inventory and the like.

The English DOS version of Wizardry 7 is a separate download in the bonus content, not part of the main installer.

For Wizardry 6/7 keyboard mode:
1. At the main menu choose (Game) Configuration.
2. Change the Input device to Keyboard and save your changes (for Wizardry 6 this is with Exit).
3. The game now remembers this mode and is completely keyboard controlled.

EDIT: simplified steps; I somehow overlooked the setting for forcing this.

This is fantastic information, thank you. Do you happen to have any sense of how easy it would be to play the game with full keyboard control? With Dragon NaturallySpeaking, I'm able to control the mouse, but it is a slow and laborious process. I imagine it might depend a lot on how deep menus go as to whether or not full keyboard control would be superior in my case.

I played Wizardry 6 twice with keyboard only. Easier than using the mouse.
You can use the DOSBox Mapper (Ctrl+F1) to rearrange the keyboard controls as needed if you don't like the default layout; this can also be used to set up a controller if you'd prefer that to using the keyboard.

The Mapper works for all games under DOSBox so is very useful for those with limited or no built-in support.

EDIT: I've fixed the steps in my previous post; I somehow overlooked that the games can be set to keyboard mode in-game.

Thanks a lot guys. This seems quite encouraging for a guy who has had to give up most games. I never played Wizardry 6, but I could not have loves 7 and 8 much more than I did when I played them. What's your take… Is Wizardry 6 worth the terrible graphics? I feel like it's on the verge of being too old for my taste.

Yes.
