How does a rogue use stealth and backstab in Wizardry 8? I don't see a button for stealth. What is benefit of stealth anyway?

also, I see an inspect button. Is there a button for Identify?

Stealth and backstab is automatically used,
i.e. stealth improves AC at 10:1 ratio
and there is a chance that opponents may completely ignore stealthy party members,
which is excellent if e.g standing in a doorway and fighting monsters with only close attacks,
while other scenarios will result in more attacks on unstealthed party members
or monsters chosing the option to cast, because they cant see stealthed party members in melee range.

Characters with backstab trait will try it with every attack,
if they use an appropriate weapon,
as far as i know daggers and swords, also if dual wielded.

Succes of "inspect" relies on artifacts skill, related to the items individual identifying difficulty.
There is also the priest/psionic spell "identify".
The required power level of the identify spell is calculated automativcally on casting,
low lvl casters may not be able to cast the spell succesfully at the required lvl,
or even not have sufficient spell points.
