In Wizardry 8 Once you have maxed out Engineering and have a Max Omnigun would it be worth it to switch to Ranger for Ranged Cricicals?

There is one problem with this approach:

If you have a maxed out Omnigun, you are already level 26. At this point, leveling up takes too long (because XP requirements grow exponentially), and you are therefore likely to beat the game before you reach level 27, giving you no chance to actually do this class change.

it would work if you give him a bow instead of the Omnigun but otherwise no

An excellent point. I had forgotten how long the Omnigun took to max out. If it maxed out at 20 or so I think this would be a great switch.

There's also the fact that ussnorway reminded me of:

The Omnigun is only usable by a Gadgeteer, and would therefore not be usable by a Ranger, even if said Ranger used to be a Gadgeteer. Therefore, I don't think this strategy would work at all.

Thanks DTGREENE. I has mistakenly thought if you had Gadgeteer levels you could use the gun. This is a strategy that will not work.
