It would be really nice to be able to disable the creation of shortcut to desktop of the game(s) you install with the launcher.

There is such option already - look at screen shot:

Well yes there is an option for the installer and I did disable creating a shortcut.
But not for the launcher, every time it's an update a new shortcut is created on the desktop.
