Hi and thanks for the beta key!
We're two testing the beta under the same roof. I gave my friend the "friend key", she got an "authorization failed". As for me, I've seen once the screen to type my ID and password, and now I'm automatically log in for online multiplayer. I tried to uninstall the game, or to reboot my computer, it doesn't help: I'm automatically in "Online" mode and can't play offline.
Is there something we can do?
Hi Cheylus,

it is only an online beta. The offline mode will be added later or in the final release.
Bummer. I would rather play offline to learn the basics before I get my ass handed to me online.
Everyone is starting so you should be fine. If you want to learn the ropes alone, you just need the other players to leave the game. I ended up solo earlier and could take my time reading things.

I know the game looks pretty complex - all I can say is that using Development cards is a key... same for understanding differences in mechanics between all four characters :)

Coming back to learning the game - for now you can always create a private (closed) game with a friend and learn the gameplay together in a more laid-back atmosphere. Actually - as suggested above - you can even ask your friend to leave and play totally by yourself.

Later on there is an interactive tutorial planned (per http://forums.cdprojektred.com/threads/30751-Gameplay-Feedback-Thread?p=1356821&viewfull=1#post1356821) but I do not know if / when it will make it to the beta.

I was totally lost in my first game, and the other people went light years ahead of me. Eventually they fell out of the game and I was left playing standalone basically. The game went by much quicker then and I was able to figure it out in less than 30m or so. I definitely recommend getting a friend to start a game and exit it to play alone at your own pace for a few hours.
Is there a way to log out of the GOG Launcher? Merely closing it keeps you logged in.

In the previous builds of beta I could never manage to start a private game. No-one I knew playing beta could. Has that been fixed? I haven't tested it yet.

The simple solution to learn and play yourself(if it still works) is to start a game and have the other person leave. When they leave the game, you can continue playing solo, take your time and learn the game. I'm hoping to get a write up of the basics of playing to help others to get into playing more easily today if I can :)

I don't know anyone who can start a game either, just join one. I have only been able to play with random folks online rather than people I know personally. I speculate that the people who can initiate games have their computers directly plugged into the Internet without a NAT device in the way. Next game I join I'm going to ask the person if they are behind a router doing NAT or not and test the theory.
I managed to host a game finally. Nothing changed on my end, it just happened to work for the first time for me. Strange but was nice to see.

Update: This was with build TR030 by the way.
