Hi guys I just downloaded and have been working on getting GOG WC4 running on my fully updated Win8.1 x64 PC, I have followed every guide, both GOG and others, with various patches and versions of dxmci.dll, mpeg2.dll, ac3, DVD fix, mpeg2dec, and compatibility settings and I can't get the game running. It opens a small black window and then the process crashes twice consecutively (exception code 0xc0000005 and then 0xc000041d) and then closes.

Can anyone give me some guidance or help me troubleshoot deeper? Using procmon, the last file accessed before the crash is ntdll.dll but that doesn't always mean anything.

Found this thread on here "Wing Commander IV / Win8.1 64 bit" by Midiboy, same symptoms, stated to close TeamViewer which I did have running, but I have the same problem still. I am reinstalling the game now since I have made a lot of changes to the files and I want to make sure I have the fresh versions.

HAH Apparently Team Viewer did not fully close for whatever reason, the process was still running. After forcing it closed, everything works great :)))
