Hi,

Not played WC3 for a long time and just checking something as I feel I am on a losing path.

Flash landed a couple of missions ago in Excalibur, I did the couple of scramble and defend victory missions that ensued. Kicked Flash's locker while he slept through it. The victory during flight then said they are retreating and I'm transported to the last stand at Earth surrounded by Kilrathi.

What went wrong and I guess I have to replay te entire game again as I saved my progress, lol.

That happens any time you fail any of a handful of plot essential missions. Basically the plot can no longer resolve in such a way as for you to win, so you end up in Sol defending Earth against an ultimately undefeatable Kilrathi assault.

Correct, if you have to backtrack to earth you are on the losing path of the game and can't get back to the winning path. There is a great guide here that you can refer to for how to successfully get through the missions, or just see where you are at in the story.

I'd play through the losing game sequence though just to see how the story plays out. I did this on my first play through when the game initially came out all those years ago.

Yeah, savor those losing missions--and when you get to the last one (there's one in Proxima, then oneat Sol/Earth) be sure and EJECT... for the best cutscene in the game.

Also--that last mission is the only place you can see the enormous Kilrathi dreadnaught!
If Flash has just arrived, then the mission you failed must have been Orsini 3.

You have to take out the cloaked Skipper missile. If the transport is destroyed, you'll end up on the losing path even though you get to carry on for a while before you get sent to Proxima/Sol.
You'd have to fail another one to get to Sol, though... failing Orsini 3 will get you on the losing version of Tamayo, but then you have to lose that series to actually get kicked to Proxima...
