Good evening.

I'm playing this for the first time, and I absolutely enjoy it. However, I can't seem to figure out how to use the repair droid I just had installed. I read the manual, but nothing useful about it there. I read the faqs, nothing. AND, I tried every key, after being seriously injured, but nothing happens. If someone would tell me what I missed, I appreciate it. So far it's just a very expensive decoration.....

It's not something that you actively use, but rather it automatically repairs any damaged systems over time. Note, however, that it does not repair damaged weapons and armor- you still need to go to a ship dealer to repair these.
That's too bad. Guess it was 30.000 out the window.

Anyway, thanks for the help. :)

Actually it's the best 30,000 creds you'll ever spend. While it won't instantly save you in battle, system repairs can get damn expensive, so the droid will have paid for itself after just a few missions. Additionally, it means that unless your armor is nearly gone you don't have to stop over in bases to repair anywhere near as frequently.

I see. Well, I guess I just had the wrong expectations, then. :)

Absolutely! Just have your radar/targeting system damaged in a fight a couple of times and see how much you have to pay for the repair. Besides, it's always good to know that even if the vital systems of ones ship get seriously damaged in a fight, you still have a chance to fight on and survive another one. Just need to wait till the systems are repaired and up to 100% again.
Well it's good to know what it actually does, as it was rather enveloped. :)
Yeah, I agree. One might conclude that the repair droid takes care of all damage inflicted to the ship. But then the droid would've been a bit cheap, wouldn't it. ;-)
Well, I take it all back. It was indeed well spent cash. I noticed that when my recent battle turned me into a crippled spaceturtle. xD The little buddy patched me up again. :)
Pretty good buy, but it does take a good while for it to make all the repairs. All I know is that having it fix the targeting system, if only to get rid of that annoying static noise, made it completely worthwhile.
Stutum.
You might want to put someone as to have answered your question. ;)

My thoughts exactly!
