Is there a way to remap the joystick buttons? By default, none seem to be the Missile Launch button :(

You'll have to use profile software to get your buttons mapped. Most joysticks have this software on a disk that came with it when you purchased it. If you got the stick second hand, you should be able to download the software at the manufacturers website.

Launching missiles is accomplished by holding down button 2 and pulling the trigger. Holding down button 2 also activates roll on left to right movement of the stick and increases the throttle when you push forward and decreases the throttle when you pull back.

Download the manual and reference card under the games extras for more keyboard commands that can be mapped to a joystick with the appropriate profiler software.

Actually, you can define a mapper file for DOSBox and map joystick buttons to keyboard commands.

Or the other way around, actually.

Start the game and at any time (even before the game is completely started) press CTRL-F1.

This will bring you to the mapper screen. Now click on any function of the keyboard - for example "Return" (which is the key for missiles) and then "Add" to add a mapping. Now simply press the joystick button you want the be mapped to the return-key and you're done.

Click on "Save" and return to the game.

More infos about the mapper here: http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Mapper
For Wing Commander, "fire missiles" is button 1 + button 2 pressed together, additionally. It's not as convenient as a single button press to fire missiles, though.
I just use Xpadder.
How do you configure the game pad to use the toggle sticks to fly instead of the d-pad???
Any help is appreciated

Possibly set the joystick mode to FCS in the dosbox config file.
Does anyone out there know how to configure the Thrustmaster T. Flight Stick X for Privateer 2? I can't get yaw (X-Axis control). In Privateer, the stick behaves nicely. Push it right or left and I get lateral movement. In Privateer 2, this causes roll.
