Hi everyone. I just purchased the Orion and I only had like 5000 credits left over. I saved the game right after i bought the Orion and didn't look at how many credits i had afterwards. Now im stuck with a Ship with no Afterburners or more importantly, SHIELDS! What can i do? I also have missions set up at the only other 2 bases in the troy system so i can attempt to just buy goods and sell them can i? Is there a way to cancel mission you already accepted? This is the only save file i have so i really dont want to restart the game. I can't fight anybody, i tried. I'm a great wing commander pilot but with no afterburners im a sitting duck waiting get my shieldless craft blasted into pieces :(
so i can't*** attempt to just buy goods and sell them

Start hauling goods from base to base while avoiding missions' nav-points. After one or more landings they should be marked as "failed" and removed from Quine.

If you can't manage from this situation then think: "What amount of time do I need to make proper money in "naked" Orion?". And then think again...
I've mentioned a couple times, if you broadcast the #3 message enough, non-mission enemies aside from Retros will eventually stop being hostile. Use that while you haul cargo if you need to. (Mostly you'll want to haul from Helen to Hector or Achilles; Hector and Achilles both stock mostly raw materials that Helen has no use for.)
You can also use invulnerability mode for making non-mission cargo runs. It is cheating but can get you out of the bind. Just remember to turn it off before taking missions again.
Go into the upgrade area of a station, then the software booth. Sell your IRIS mk2 scanner/radar. Use the money to buy a shield, and then an IRIS mk1 radar as a temporary measure.
It's a real shame that we have to get everything all over again, doesn't make any sense.
