Guys I'm trying to transfer WC 1 SM 2 to WC 2

I can't get WC2 to use the ~ key in the original path name so I copied everything into a c:\wing folder, so for example, crusade.wld would be in c:\wing\gamedat

despite this, when I have the game look in that folder it just goes back to the "Transfer or start new char" screen.

What do I do?

I figured it out. I missed that I had to put the WC folder in WC2 because it treated that folder as C:\

I would like to ask if having all wingmen alive when transferring the savegame from WC1 to SM1 or SM2 is a must-have or not.
I always believed that it is necessary to have them all alive, but I am not so sure, since in both SM Reference Cards is a statement the game assumes that all wingmen are alive, but does not require it explicitly.

Sorry, but could you explain to me exactly how to transfer the save from WC SM2: Crusade to WC2? Which file do I copy (is it CRUSADE.WDL, or SAVE.WDL?), and where do I paste it in the WC2 folder? Your insight as to how you got it to work would be appreciated.

*EDIT: Never mind, I figured out that I had to copy the CRUSADE.WDL, and paste it into the WC2 folder. I then entered "c:\" without the quotation marks in WC2 after selecting transfer pilot from Crusade, and lo and behold, there was my save file, success!
