I have worked my way through the asteroids, but how does one navigate the minefields without being blown up? I just seem not to have the knack! :(

If my memory is not telling me lies, i think fly at 150 speed is the best way to cross asteroids, not slower, not faster... anyway with practices i used to flight through asteroids at full speed.
Yeah asteroids were fine, it was the minefield that was killing me - until I learned I could go around it! Now I just need to nail Kurasawa 2 :/
Oh! my "brain" readed asteroids, about minefields is a pain in the ass, what to do ? stay out of the minefields, is you need to "cross it" just "cheat" i mean, go by another route, even flying manually, and if you have objectives insinde the minefield, try the spaceships there follow you out of the minefield. Dont fight there, its just suicide.

EDIT: Yes! i seen you took the right way :) about jurasawa 2 i can´t remember...

I've gotten through minefields fine before. You just need to give them more space than you think you need. I'm not sure if they home in, but they will detonate if you're close enough rather than if you touch them.
I remember one mission, it was probably special operations, where you had to fight ships inside the minefield... it took million attempts but i did it. You can do it! It's not like there weren't other things in the game that were as hard or even harder (friggin' defense missions...)
It felt to me they were proximity mines so I afterburned through so when they explode I was nowhere near them. I survived but I think luck had a large part to play in that.

+1 just tried this in mission 3, works like a charm!
