Is the WC 1 and 2 sold here the Windows version (kilrathi saga) or just another Dos Box package?

I got WC3 and WC4, both runs beautifully on Windows 10 x64. My WC3 is the Origin version and applied the instruction somewhere (I can't remember just google it). Would be very lovely if both runs with 3D acceleration (texture filtering) but I suppose that never came out.

Was expecting to have the same experience with the original two. Yeah they're totally different feel, WC1 and 2 are using 2.5D while WC3 and up already have 3D polygon technology implemented. But would be nice to have WC1 and 2 running natively on Windows without any further tweaks and such. The dosbox inclusion should eliminate the manual tweaking, but for the most cases it still need some tweaks or two.

Also, how about Privateer 2? Is there any win version that runs under Windows 10 x64?

Thanks in advance!

Dosbox, the Kilrathi saga versions are rather glitchy, with missing graphics and the like. Someone patched the game but I don't remember if they did also the expansions and als WC2 hasn't been patched yet IIRC.
WC3 and 4 were never meant for 3d acceleration, even the windows-only DVD version of WC4 sold on GOG only runs in software mode.

Privateer 2 kinda sucks, unless you are in for nostalgia or for the sake of completionism like me it's better to leave it there. There is the privateer 2 fix that de facto converts the game to the windows version though, I used that to play it but I can't tell if it will work on windows 10 (I still use 7).

WC1 works flawlessly thanks to WCDX, and it has no problems even without said patch.

Wing Commander 2 Suffers from Cutscene tied framerate bugs, but it plays "well" besides the buggy cutscenes, but stinger will work on that later.

Wing Commander 3 and 4 has no problems with modern machines, WC3 you need only the W95 patch + Dgvoodoo2 or Sol's DDRAW patch. though DgVoodoo2 2.54 is more safe and better.

though WC4 has buggy menus if you use wrappers and no subs due to VOB video files, minus the nonDVD version aka Dos using the win95 patch with the -i command line + Sol's DDRAW patch

Is this applicable for the GOG version?

I have to use the kilrahti saga for WCDX, right?

WC3 works waaaaay much better (after the patch) than WC4 on Windows 10 x64

No to the first, yes to the second.
