So, I have my MS SideWinder Precision Pro attached to my computer via USB. Calibration when WC3 launched up worked fine, can also control the mouse cursor with the stick after that. But when launching a mission I cannot control my ship, I can only fire my primary weapon with the fire trigger.

Is there a way to setup controlsß There is a button called "Controls" when accessing the main terminal but I only see other options in that sub menu.

14. Select the Set Control Type menu to choose what sort of input device you will use. This can be done later in the game by pressing ALT+O in flight.
The reference card proved to be very helpful aswell. Would maark my own post as solution but sadly it isn't possible.

Same here, I have the attack 3 and cannot get the accelerate or brake buttons working on the joystick,

EDIT: Worked out how to use it by using the Logitech Gaming Software. Simply map the keys to the buttons and follow the above advice about setting this joystick permanently.

Set the Logitech Profiler to "Persistent Profile" with your Wing Commander profile selected and run the game normally.

I have the same scenario. I changed the Logitech Profiler to Persistent and it worked great the first time I tried the game but since exiting and restarting it seems like all the setting information has been wiped out and I'm back to keyboard and basic joystick controls. Any suggestions? Thank you.

hhmm if the Logitech Profiler isn't working, you could try DOSBox's own Key Mapping
http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Mapper

But make sure the game is set properly. In flight push ALT + O and set the input to keyboard if your playing with the joystick binded to the keyboard keys or set it to joystick and calibrate it in-game (but i guess that didn't work, newer joystick?)
Hi to all, I have a similar problem. I use a Logitech Attack 3, the game recognizes the buttons on the joystick but not the x and y axis, I have selected joystick from ALT-O, all 3 of them, but nothing works, I have tried to use the mapping function in DOS, I believe I am using it properly, the game responds to my bluetooth mouse and corded keyboard, but not my joystick, can anyone help? Thanks

Sadly none of this stuff works, you can't play Privateer with a Joystick
Thanks for the info
Hmmm. My Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X works just fine in Privateer, though I had to use button number 2 to as my button in the calibration settings to get it calibrated. I haven't tried it in WC3 yet. I hope it works! As it is, the whole throttle part of my HOTAS is pretty much a paperweight in Privateer, as it isn't recognized by the game, even if buttons 5 and 9 both seem to register as the trigger... odd. Must experiment!
Of course the joystick works in Wing Commander III!
