Every time I load the game my joystick is not calibrated and the mouse wanders all over the screen. Once I manage to get it calibrated all is fine. Until the next time I fire up the game. Is there any fix for this?

Try editing the .conf file in your game directory and search for [joystick]

there should be a line like this one:

timed=false (or true)

if "false" set it to "true" oder vice versa. That should help.

By the way, what Wing Commander game are you having problems with?

I am having a problem with WC3.

The joystick line in the config file said 'true' which I changed to 'false'
No Joy.
WC2 seems to require a Joystick! I know this because controling the ship is VERY SLOPPY with a keyboard. is there a way to make it run in keyboard mode. I really want to play this and I cant due to the frustration.

Can anyone help? Many thanks
If you calibrate the joystick from the in-game menu, it doesn't seem to save the settings.

To calibrate it permanently, edit the .conf file, scroll down to the autoexec section at the bottom, and where it says WC3.exe, change it to WC3.exe -i

Calibrate it there, then go through the rest of the menus using the default options. When you quit the game, change the .conf back by removing the -i to stop it coming up every time.

Many thanks. That did the trick. Amazed at how some folks learn this stuff.
