will there ever be a Mac version? I had the original on PC in 1995 or 96, now I purchased this again here on GOG for almost a year ago, just incase.... but will it ever run on Mac? Not so long ago Planescape:Torment arrived here on GOG, for Mac. And it just blew me away (another classic!)
So please, pretty please, with sugar on top, make it Mac compatible?

DOSbox sucks big time.
Plenty of classic games made Mac compatible, so why not this one? why use dosbox? DOSbox blows.
I'm pretty sure thet the GOG version of Wing Commander also uses DOSBox.
Probably all of the DOS games here do.

those I got from GOG were supplied with Wine, and work very very well.
I would love this one, Wings (remastered) and Arcanum Mac comp as that would really make my day. All great classic games.
Man that would be something! Never once have I had problems with games on Mac. Whereas playing them on pc would sooner or later result in crashes or some such.
Well, never cease to hope that they will arrive on Mac...
Who is going to do the port? Wing Commander is an abandoned game franchise (although I wish it wasn't, hey EA wouldn't a Wing Commander Redux project be nice). There are no coders left on this project, haven't been for a long time, so who would do this port you want and how would they recoup the cost?

Even modern Windows needs DOSBox to run the old games, no one is porting these old games to the new Windows versions, and that would probably garnish more sales than a Mac port would.

I think your prejudice for DOSBox is clouding your reasoning, if you want to run these old games without emulation you could always get an old PC for cheap and put old versions of OSes on it (DOS, Win 3.11, 95. 98, whatever). ;)

Oh btw, I don't use Windows either, but I'm a penguin not a Mac user.

It's also possible to run Windows 3.11 quite nicely on DOSBox - I use it to run SimCity Classic and SimCity 2000 Classic, among others. Full instructions can be found at -- http://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=9405
